Rehab Departments / Lift Team - Westwood

About the Lift Team

In an effort to reduce costs associated with lifting-related injuries of nursing staff, UCLA Health System implemented a Lift Team Program under the Department of Rehabilitation Services in July 2004. The lift team program operates 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, including holidays. Lift Team staff members work in pairs and in partnership with nursing staff.

UCLA Rehabilitation Services: Lift Team

Their primary focus is movement of patients requiring maximum assistance for mobility, including bed repositioning, and transfers to chair, commode, bed, or gurney. The Lift Team also responds to patient falls and other "urgent" situations. They are an integral and respected part of the healthcare team, and has made a significant difference in reducing nursing injuries.
