About the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department
The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation department provides a comprehensive approach to cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation utilizing a multidisciplinary team of professionals including registered nurses, registered respiratory therapists, exercise physiologists, certified exercise specialists and registered dieticians under the supervision of our medical directors.
Conditions Treated
Typical medical diagnoses for the pulmonary program include:
Typical surgical procedures that might necessitate rehab would be following lung transplantation and before and after lung volume reduction surgery.
Diagnoses for the cardiac program could include:
- Myocardial infarction (heart attack)
- Stable angina
- Following coronary bypass
- Heart valve or heart transplant surgery
- After angioplasty and/or stenting
Treatments
The intensive programs include exercise and education that is individualized for each patient. These programs are covered by most private insurances, HMOs and Medicare. This coverage would be verified prior to beginning the program. Physician referral is required.
A follow up program of medically supervised maintenance exercise is also available. This is a self pay program.
